Live2D announced that they have released Live2D Cubism SDK for Nintendo Switch. For those unfamiliar, this is a software development kit that allows users to transfer various 2D assets into other Live2D software projects. Essentially, if a user creates a 2D image, the user can work with the 2D image without having to turn the 2D image into a 3D model. For example, Nintendo used some of these tools in order to work on Fire Emblem Fates

The new Nintendo Switch development kit works with Unity. Ideally, these new tools should allow for more Switch games to be developed in an easier fashion. The following quote comes from the Live2D developers:

Live2D Cubism SDK for Nintendo Switch is a runtime library for developing Nintendo Switch games on Unity game engine. The SDK allows developers to develop games with Live2D assets on Unity while leveraging on the console’s strong capability.
