Bellevue, WA—April 24, 2018—The Pokémon Company International announced the upcoming airing of the 1,000th episode of Pokémon the Series, the iconic animated television series that premiered in the US nearly 20 years ago. Chronicling the fantastic adventures of Ash and Pikachu alongside their many friends and companions, Pokémon the Series has taken viewers to a variety of different regions, islands, cities, and towns in the Pokémon world. The 1,000th episode is part of the latest season, Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon—Ultra Adventures, set in the tropical Alola region. The episode promises to be memorable, as it features something not yet seen in the beloved series—a wedding!

“The Professors’ New Adventure” Episode Synopsis:

Following their journey through the Ultra Wormhole, our heroes return to the Pokémon School, where Lillie thanks everyone for their help saving her mother. Later, during a walk on the beach, Professor Kukui asks Professor Burnet to marry him! They aren’t planning a wedding ceremony, but our heroes have other ideas...a surprise ceremony awaits! Then, Lusamine asks the Pokémon School class to join the Ultra Guardians—a group that protects Alola from Ultra Beasts. And just after the bouquet toss, Solgaleo appears! Ash gets his wish and thanks the Legendary Pokémon for all its help, and he looks forward to seeing it again someday.

This special episode of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon—Ultra Adventures will air on Disney XD, and will be available on demand and on the DisneyNOW app in the US on Saturday, April 28 at 9:00 a.m. ET/PT.

During the week before the 1,000th episode airs in the US, The Pokémon Company International will be taking a walk down memory lane and sharing the theme songs from different Pokémon regions on social media. Trainers are encouraged to join in by using the hashtag #1000EpisodesOfPokemon and letting the world know which region’s theme song they like the best.
