ITC going to take a closer look at the Switch, will consider blocking imports due to patent infringement claims

The US International Trade Commission is taking a closer look at the Switch, due to some patent infringement claims by Gamevice. Gamevice claims the Switch infringes on patents they hold for detachable controllers. Gamevice reached out to the ITC to request a "limited exclusion order," which would keep Nintendo from importing the Switch into the United States. The ITC is yet to make a decision on the matter.

I doubt Nintendo will lose this. They’ve been doing this for far too long to let something like this catch them out

Good thing I own 3 of them!

Aren't traditional controllers by design detachable...

Patent trolls are disgusting. They dropped the suit in October likely because they knew they had no chance in court, so now they're going where they feel they're more likely to win and/or cause serious damage to Nintendo.

Key sentence from the announcement.: By instituting this investigation (337-TA-1111), the USITC has not yet made any decision on the merits of the case. https://www.usitc.gov/press_room/news_release/2018/er0501ll939.htm

The Cnet article appears to have a title to generate hits.
