Pokemon Co. shares a look at the man who inspired Snorlax's design

Did you know that Snorlax was inspired by a real person? It's true, as Pokemon artist Ken Sugimori revealed the info in a recent interview. According to him, Snorlax's design was inspired by Pokemon planner Koji Nishino, who you can see in the image above.

(Nishino), with this (huge) appearance, was the model for the Snorlax Pokémon. However, it is abnormally demanding with adorable things.

Snorlax’s Japanese name Kabigon has ties to Nishino as well. Kabigon was the nickname of Nishino, and “Kabi” means “mold” in Japanese, in reference to Nishino eating food that has become moldy.
