Square-Enix says Octopath Traveler stock replenishment in Japan will be quite small, apologizes once again

Square-Enix is facing a shortage of Octopath Traveler in Japan, and they've already apologized for the lack of stock. The company also mentioned that a new wave of physical copies is coming in early August. While we thought that would help out quite a bit, it seems like it's going to barely be a band-aid.

Square-Enix has now said that the stock replenishment coming in August is "very little," which means copies are sure to disappear as quickly as they hit stores. Square-Enix has once again apologized for the issue, and suggested one more time that customers should turn to the Switch eShop to get the game.

Today: "Sorry we didn't make enough"

In two months: "The sales numbers are crap. We better drop Switch support since no one seems to be buying our games."

Why are you even on this site if you have absolutely nothing good to say? It’s really starting to tick me off.

Apparently, RMC doesn't mind if a Sony troll works on the Go Nintendo side of things. In the long run, it may change the feel of what this site originally was all about-love for Nintendo.

He's been working on the site since long before you've been commenting (and probably even lurking) on it. It's just an act and not something to be taken too seriously.

Though it is funny when relatively new (and clueless) members like you, the guy above you, and that one member with the Valkyrie Chronicles avatar (the one that only ever whines about others whining) get all riled up over what's quite clearly a bit of sardonic humor.

To be fair, even knowing that it's an attempt at sardonic humor isn't enough for it to come across that way for me most of the time, so I'd say it's far from clear that that's what it's meant to be. I completely understand why people who don't know think he's a troll--it's what he honestly sounds like.

Yes, in this case, it's a joke... but part of me can totally see this thought process being played out with some of the MBAs at Square. :/

How long I've been commenting is irrelevant, although I've been here since 2005. I didn't bother to sign back up until years after our initial accounts were lost.

Anyways, I was just trying to answer dudes question. Doesn't really bother me, just gets old, if anything.

I really hope this is genuinely unforeseen demand and not Square Enix trying to force people to the eShop.

If they are playing games they run the risk of people waiting for a physical copy but move on when they give up waiting.

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt on this.
