HORI's Left D-Pad Joy-Con may have fried someone's Switch/dock

We've talked a few times now about the battery draining issue with HORI's Left D-Pad Joy-Con. The issue causes the Switch's battery to completely drain even when it sleep mode. That's why HORI recommends that you remove the Left D-Pad Joy-Con when you're not using it. Unfortunately another negative story has come up, and it might be enough to keep you from purchasing the controller at all.

One Reddit user had grabbed the HORI Left D-Pad Joy-Con and attached it to his Switch, then threw it into his backpack. Hours later, he found the Switch to be super hot. When he got back home an dropped his Switch into the dock, there was no output on the TV. The Switch also won't charge through the dock, but will charge in handheld mode. It seems either something in the Switch is screwed up, or the Switch dock itself has been fried.
