Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD "coming soon" to Switch

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD, fans and newcomers alike can follow the journey of crown prince Noctis and his brothers in arms, Prompto, Ignis and Gladiolus, with fully voiced key event scenes and faithfully recreated battles.

All of the treasured moments from Final Fantasy XV, like driving the Regalia across breath-taking landscapes, camping, chocobo riding and more, can be experienced in a whole new way with the game’s creatively reimagined art style and in HD resolution for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 system versions.

The Tale of the Chosen King, Savior to the Star.

After years of fighting, the nations of Lucis and Niflheim at last agree to an armistice.

As a symbol of this promised peace, Noctis, crown prince of Lucis, is to wed the Lady Lunafreya of Tenebrae.

The prince sets forth for his wedding on the eve of the signing ceremony, sent off by his father, King Regis.

Unbeknownst to Noctis, however, the journey ahead is fraught with perils…

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD is currently available on PS4 and Xbox One, but not on Switch. It will be coming to Switch soon, but we don't have details on just when.

Thanks to Neverunplaying, Fullmetalninja, Zeldroid 2, Andreslop24, and MegaJacobF for the heads up!

oh god no

if they wanted to port FF Mobile games, they could have done the perfectly fine ports of I-IV and VII-IX, with VII and IX having improved QOL features that even make those the best versions of the games. Why on earth would they port this ugly mess over? It just reminds me of how we got the kiddy looking Crystal Chronicles over X or X-2 and the sequel to that over XII, and feels more like an unintentional insult over anything else... I think folks would much prefer if this game looked sprite-based if they wanted to scale things back for obvious reasons rather than this...

Heck, some folks say the Bravely Series looks childish but the character models in that game look waaaaaay better than this so I don't even know what happened. The wait for a real FF game playable on Nintendo home systems continues 24 years later (even though the Switch is technically a handheld, I still think it would count... Besides, even then that's no excuse since the GBA got four FFs and the DS got two ground up remakes.)

Too bad FFXV sucked -_-

Too good it doesn't!

Hopefully we’ll see ports of the older games on Switch.

Yeah I'll just stick with Octopath Traveler

I'll 1.5x dip, since I own the original and all expansion packs on XB1X. This version will be more fun on Switch than the original. Face it: FFXV is a powerful, modern game with HDR and intense graphics. I'd rather play this cool-looking reimagining instead of a watered-down version of the original. This looks vibrant on Switch: the original wouldn't look right. The Switch is amazing and this version of a fantastic game is playing to its strengths.

I really disliked it on ps4. This version looks fine, but not for 30 bucks.

So I guess they were going to announce this and the MegaMan demo during the Direct today. Some of the surprises are now gone but I wonder what else is up Nintendo’s sleeve.

Oh, great, we're getting this hideous, funko pop looking joke of a game, I'd have prefered no port to this.

Cool... I guess? I never was interested in the real FFXV to begin with, so I'll pass. Hopefully there are people here who can enjoy it.

I wasn’t interested in FFXV before..... and I’m definitely not now. That style is butt ugly.

I may be the odd duck here, but this chibi stylized aesthetic I like more than the original HD one. XD

booooooooooo!!! Give us the real deal or nothing, Square Enix!!

I don't even need a Direct now, for with this my life is complete!

(I'll be Octopathing)

The artstyle is really putting me off, Its quite hideous

I haven't heard too many good things about the original, so I'll pass on the crappy version of it. I wonder if this was meant to be in the Direct?

Definitely not getting this, but a FF on switch could mean that the older titles could also come. Wish I could replay FFIX on Switch.

Aahhh... I’m so disheartened with this news... Square Enix should take a year, and port the full fat version of this game. Not this watered down crap. It can be done - Panic Button has proved what’s possible.

My coaches used tell me: “you only get out what you put in.” And this is the absolute least amount of work they could have possibly done. I will be passing on this.

To be honest, I'd rather have a stylized game than what the original looks like... but nothing about this game really looks enticing to me. The story concept and the characters aren't interesting me at all. Plus, I know what Final Fantasy games are like these days.
