Belgian government launches criminal investigation into EA after the company refuses to yank loot boxes from FIFA 19

GN Version 5.0

The Belgian government declared loot boxes to be a form of gambling earlier this year. This means that games have to be modified, or that content has to be completely removed for the region in order to comply with law. EA flat-out refused to change how their randomized card pack loot boxes work in FIFA 19, which has lead to the start of a criminal investigation by the government. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens from here on out, as every other game company has removed/modified their loot box content to comply with Belgian law.
