Steelseries announces upgrade to award-winning Arctis 3 bluetooth headset

CHICAGO – September 18, 2018 – SteelSeries, the global leader in gaming peripherals, announces the availability of the upgraded Arctis 3 Bluetooth, widely regarded as the best gaming headset for the Nintendo Switch. The award-winning headset now features updates based on user feedback, a new price and is the best headset to work with the newly launched Nintendo Switch Online service. The Arctis 3 Bluetooth allows gamers to easily chat by connecting simultaneously to the Nintendo Switch via the 3.5mm wired connection and the Nintendo Switch Online phone app via wireless Bluetooth audio.

“The Arctis 3 Bluetooth was the first headset on the market that could seamlessly have both wired gaming audio and wireless Bluetooth at the same time,” said Brian Fallon, SteelSeries Audio Category Manager. “The unique solution makes this headset the best for Switch gamers so that they can easily chat with their friends over Nintendo Switch Online.”

The newest version of the Arctis 3 Bluetooth features many of the same upgrades seen in the 2019 editions of the award-winning Arctis line. The new headsets feature a variety of improvements stemming from user feedback, including bolstered memory foam in the ear cushions, a simplified cable system, and extended bass response. The Arctis 3 Bluetooth also includes all the best features of the original line such as the Discord-certified ClearCast noise canceling microphone, the exclusive ski goggle suspension headband system and Airweave athletics-inspired performance fabric ear cushions.

The Arctis 3 Bluetooth was designed for superior sound, comfort and style across all gaming platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, virtual reality and mobile.

The new Arctis 3 Bluetooth is available now globally for a new lower price of $99.99 / €129.99 at SteelSeries.com.

Along with the recent refresh of the Arctis headset line, SteelSeries has also upgraded the Arctis 3 Console Edition gaming headset with similar features for improved design and better comfort. The new Arctis 3 Console Edition is available now globally at SteelSeries.com.

It's sad that Nintendo has not fixed the Voice Chat issue. I do not want to spend $99 to be able to use a tool like this headset to get this voice chat experience. I have Apple headphones with the mic that i plug into the Jack port on my Switch and this works well when i play Fortnite. I wish they could have implemented this method instead of forcing this Nintendo App on us to utilize voice chat. As much as i love my Switch, that is a big concern and gripe about the Nintendo Switch.

Not defending Nintendo here, but we can be more reasonable about the situation; there will be competitors to the Arctis 3 that are cheaper, and Apple Earpods are designed to let in outside sound, meaning you can hear your phone's speaker.

Of course, there's always the argument that you need to purchase a smartphone in the first place to use the voice chat app. Those can be very cheap, and don't need to be hooked up to a phone service for the purposes of Nintendo's app, though.

There are multiple options to mix the audio.. But it is definitely something they still need to make easier..
It would be so nice if you could just stream the audio to your phone via a Bluetooth connection and have the app mix the two audio signals..

I'd imagine the developers thought of that as well though.. Must be harder than it sounds to make it work properly.. Probably there are audio delay problems..
