Mega Man 11's Star Force costume was only a placeholder

A Game Informer feature on Mega Man 11 included one screen that featured Mega Man in a Star Force-style costume. This did not make it into the final game. What happened, and why was the costume left behind? Turns out it was nothing more than a placeholder from the start. The official Mega Man 11 Production Notebook explains the situation.

“When there was still no design for the Tundra Man weapon, Mr. Ueda created a Shooting Star style [Star Force] model as a place holder during development. It seems the magazine journalist that came took a photo of it… Sorry for confusing fans. We blame Ueda.”
