Saber Interactive partnered up with 2K to bring out their sequel to NBA Playgrounds. Just what does 2K bring to the table for NBA 2K Playgrounds 2? Here's a breakdown of what the company's involvement paved the way for.

- helped bring in more real-life players, like Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
- helped add signature animations for certain NBA players
- dedicated servers for online play
- refined elements such as in-game purchases
- most of the microtransactions are cosmetic items, but you can pay to unlock the game’s entire roster

With 2K hopping on-board for this installment, does that mean they'd like to continue working with the franchise from here on out? Could we see an NBA 2K Playgrounds 3? Here's what Saber CEO Matthew Karch had to say.

“I will say that 2K is not interested in one-offs. They see the long-term potential for this game.”
