Dear Reader:
Skybound Games hopeful to release The Walking Dead: The Final Season - Ep. 3 before the year ends
Skybound Games’ CEO Ian Howe dropped in over at Reddit today for an AMA that focused on the company's work to wrap up The Walking Dead: The Final Season. The one question that kept coming up concerned the release the date Ep. 3 for The Final Season. Here's the answer Howe shared during the AMA.
“OK, given that you guys have been so supportive and patient, I’m going out on a limb and will say yes, I fully expect Episode 3 to be this year and I’ll be very disappointed if we can’t make that happen.”
Of course, Howe had a ton more to share about The Final Season in general. Here's some tidbits that were discussed.
- as of now, things are a bit tied up as far as legal matters go, which has halted production of Ep. 3
- Howe is confident that they will be able to work through these hurdles quickly
- there's not a ton of work left to do on Ep. 3
- Ep. 4 had only entered pre-production, so there's a lot of work to do on that episode
- Howe has been in contact with over 40 former Telltale devs, and they seem excited to get back to work on the game
- once legal matters are wrapped up, discussions with the ex-Telltale employees can progress further
- finishing this series alone isn’t enough if it isn’t finished by the staff that was originally working on it
- some former Telltale employees might already have new job offers, which is completely understandable
- Howe hopes the series will return to digital storefronts by the end of October
- many of the former Telltale employees are located out of the Bay Area in San Francisco while Skybound is in Los Angeles
- Skybound will likely find a space for the dev team to work out of that is convenient for them\
