Animal Crossing didn't hit the states until the GameCube came around. The game we got was a tweaked version of Animal Crossing on the N64, which only saw release in Japan. Back before Nintendo moved Animal Crossing to the GameCube outside of Japan, they were definitely considering releasing the N64 version in English. Above are the first-ever English press materials for the game, which were handed out at Spaceworld. Back then, Nintendo was toying with calling the franchise 'Animal Forest' outside of Japan!
