RUMOR - Netflix's Castlevania producer is working on a Legend of Zelda series

Oh boy, now this is a juicy rumor! Netflix's Castlevania producer Adi Shankar is teasing a project. Shankar specifically said that he's working with an iconic Japanese gaming company to turn one of their iconic franchises into a series. He's going to officially reveal that collaboration on Nov. 16th, 2018.

While we wait for that to happen, TheWrap.com is saying they've gotten inside information on the adaptation. Their sources state that this project is with Nintendo, and will be an adaptation of The Legend of Zelda. Nintendo was reached for comment, and said they have nothing to announce.

Thanks to Andreslop24 for the heads up!

Remember when there was a rumor of a live action Game of Thrones type Zelda series a few years ago and everyone was acting like it was practically confirmed and a sure thing? Is this what that turned into?

A new animated series seems way more believable though. Would be cool to see one with actual effort behind it. Very interesting if true!

Needs more "Excuuuuuuse me, Princess!"

... but yeah, that rumor years back was ridiculous.

The Castlevania series is great so I'd be up for Zelda if it's handled just as well.

I am worried. As a Zelda fan, I fear the end product of this.

If it sucks, it sucks. Can be easily ignored like the CD-i games and 80's cartoons. If it's cool, cool.

This is almost a "too good to be true" rumor. The people working on Castlevania actually understand and care about the game, and I would assume the same care would go into a Zelda cartoon if they made one. So I'd like the rumor to be true.

And if they make a Zelda cartoon that ends up being bad? Well, I think the franchise can survive a bad cartoon adaptation.

It already has survived a bad cartoon adaptation. Excuuuse me, princess!

The trick is to make it amazing or so bad it's amusing. Just don't go making it mediocre!

Yeah, that was kind of what I was getting at.

Dredd and animated Castlevania are good but I don't really see Shankar's... uh... let's say "sensibilities" translating that well into the Zelda series.

I'm sure Nintendo will leave some stipulations. They do care a lot about their IP, I'm sure Aonuma will have a level of supervision, kinda like he had with Hyrule Warriors.

Those are going to be weird negocitations.

Shankar: "So how many F-bombs can I have Link drop?"

Nintendo: "Wait wait wait... you want him to TALK? (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻"

Haha. Now I want Link to swear when he swings his sword. It would be the best thing for about 10 minutes.

This won't work out. I mean, Nintendo won't be fine with it being on Netflix if they want it broadcasted on a channel that everyone can watch it on.

Netflix has over 117 million subscribers worldwide. It's arguably the biggest platform they could ask for.

More and more people don’t have traditional TV subscriptions like cable and only have Netflix you know.

Partnering with Netflix is the better option than any other TV network (except maybe HBO)

I guess November 16th will become the next direct day for internet.

Wow were getting a show based off a Nintendo series on Netflix before Netflix itself hits the Switch. Incredible!

Will a Zelda series finally get Netflix up and running on the Switch? :P
