Edit: Octopath sold over 1M according to Nintendo: https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2018/181031_2e.pdf page 7.

":The next title I want to talk about is OCTOPATH
TRAVELER, released in July of this year by SQUARE
ENIX. This is an RPG featuring a special kind of graphics
known as "HD-2D," which is a fusion of 2D sprites and
3D graphics. This completely original title for Nintendo
Switch earned high marks from game media reviewers
and also has been well received by actual playing
consumers. Despite this being a completely original title,
SQUARE ENIX announced that global shipments and
download sales reached 1 million units within three
weeks of release. According to them, both shipments
and sell-through continued to climb after that, and sellthrough
has now surpassed 1 million units.
"

Original: Considering the title is still selling at basically full price ($55 on Amazon) and no real reports of price drops in Japan, it's probably sold through that 1M as well by now. Games that are channel stuffed and don't sell (like Monster Strike 3DS in Japan) end up having a huge price cut.

If we got those N64 games in an N64 Classic that wouldn’t be bad. But we definitely won’t get Goldeneye and probably not Shadow of Empire.

Lugia beating Ho-oh as it should be.

One 3rd party title in the Top 10 list of best selling N64 games, just scraping in at number 10 . Some things never change. Actually, as it stands currently, there's no 3rd party game in the top 10 selling Switch games, not even close. I may be wrong but I think Mario + Rabbis Kingdom Battle is the only 1 million+ 3rd party seller on Switch. It's deserved because it's new and exclusive, unlike 99% on Switch. Having the Mario license helped as well.

Pretty sure Stardew Valley has sold over a million on Switch alone.

Page 9 https://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2018/180427_2e.pdf

Back in April Nintendo stated Stardew was close to 1 million. It’s been in the top 5 if not top 3 of the eShop charts since so it’s safe to say it’s a million seller.

Pretty sure it was announced in August that Octopath sold over 1 million too, in a matter of a month or so, so it may well have sold more since. That may well be the only properly third party game (as in with no nintendo stuff in it) to have achieved such a result though, but it speaks volumes that that game was also the one important third party release for the Switch developped from the ground up as an exclusive for the system. If more devs developed exclusives, quality ones to boot, there may be more million sellers.

Not this %0110# again. It shipped(not sold) 1 million copies, it was a ploy to garner the game some attention. We've heard nothing since about the game.

Obviously keeping it full price is just a ploy to make the game seem more successful ;)

Clearly xD. Just posted that nintendo confirmed it sold over 1M.

Facts don't work on him.

His ignorance is like a golden shield of misinformation.

No it didn't. I provided proof at the time that the game wasn't even close to selling 1 million copies. It's possible that the game has gone on to sell 1 million copies since.

Get up to date then. If you use old data you're still wrong or close to it. 1 million is a sure hit but around 800,000 and up is still successful.

I just gave you proof that it sold 1 million copies now. So what are you claiming? That it suddenly sold much better after those 3 weeks? It's a JRPG and sales of JRPGs are usually frontloaded. I remember countering you on how it plausibly hit 1M shipped at the time and likely meant it was well on its way to 1M sold.

On another note, Nintendo just mentioned there were 9 million sellers this fiscal period and listed their 6 1st party titles. That seems to suggest 3 3rd party titles sold over 1M. I'd guess the 2nd title is Minecraft but i wonder what the third is.

Stardew Valley is sure to have hit a million too. See my post above for the link.

Didn't Stardew Valley already hit a million before this fiscal period though? You think it sold another million? I think this "period" is like May - end of September or something. Thus DKC is in, Kirby is not, and Mario Party is not.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it has sold 2 million on Switch. I know around the timeframe of April 2018 Stardew has sold like 3.5 million across all platforms. I could see that approaching 5 million now that it’s also on iOS too.

Vgchartz has Fifa 18 and Skyrim over 1M as well (but not Octopath). Even if that's not true, they could be pretty close.

wait wtf how on earth are licensed games on that list. Did a lot of people get duped into buying Yugioh or Star Wars (I own the YGO game. It's OK but not top 10 GBC worthy)

Silver and Gold should be together and not separate if you ask me.

I agree, but they always list the Pokemon games separately because they are separate games technically.

That's the thing. They are not because you're literally playing the same thing only with a slight change in the Pokemon.

In terms of actual product SKU they are separate. So from a numbers perspective they are counted separately.
I to agree with you that they should be counted as one, just explaining why they’re not.

I would like to see the Saturn and Dreamcast list as well.
