Famitsu's weekly most wanted charts showed us that Japan was pretty eager to get its hands on Persona Q2, and now the sales charts have proven the Famitsu polls were spot-on. Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth saw 80,000 copies sold in its first week, making it the best-selling 3DS game of 2018 in Japan. It beat out the previous record holder, Etrian Odyssey Nexus, which debuted to 72,000 sold.

That said, we do have to put things into perspective. When Persona Q2 is compared to the original, things don't look quite as rosy. The first game managed to pull in 187,000 units sold in the first week, accounting for 80.64% of its initial shipment. Persona Q2's opening sales accounted for 64.54%.
