Nintendo sends special New Year's message to Japanese fans

Nintendo has sent an email to Nintendo Account holders in Japan to celebrate the new year. You can see the artwork sent above, and a translation for the message included below.

“To everyone: We hope you will have a 2019 full of smiles and a year of brightness. This year, please treat us well.”

It's not normally nice for people in Japan to be harsh at others regardless though.

Ever since I took classes and learned Hiragana/Japanese culture, hearing about that trend made it one I really wish would stop. Being honest is something that's needed to give companies feedback as long as you don't act like a big jerk about it, which the rest of the world could improve on as well

„This year please treat us well“ is unfortunately a wrong translation and/or can‘t be directly translated in this way.
It‘s a sentence everyone uses in Japan to say something like „thanks for everything and let‘s keep going“. It doesn‘t have a deeper meaning.

I thought someone might have noticed that it's also the year of the pig in the Chinese zodiac.

“To everyone: We hope you will have a 2019 full of smiles and a year of brightness. This year, please treat us well.”

New Switch with a brighter screen confirmed to be on the way. I too echo the sentiment that Nintendo need to treat us well.
