Aw man. I was getting excited for DK Jr. Still a cool addition.

You wouldn't believe how much I've longed for DK Junior to return since the 64 Tennis game. I'd buy the game for that alone even with the on cart DLC making me skip this otherwise, solely because any game with him acknowledged makes me very happy since I hate how they threw him out of spinoffs in favor of Diddy Kong who isn't even as cute. They can both co-exist, like Baby Mario and Mario. If he got added in a monthly update, I'd buy it.

It really is time for DK Jr. to make his long awaited return! Pauline is making a comeback, so surely he can't be too far behind, right?

Man, Link makes too much sense as a character for a tennis game. Think about how many times Link has to square off against airborne enemies, by hitting a big ball of energy back and forth with them till someone misses.

Link makes sense for a golf game. :P

That would be cool, but the lack of global matchmaking makes it almost impossible for me to find a match in most modes.

We should datamine who these dataminers are.

Oh please, don't get overboard again... Mario Kart 8 having oddball characters was the exact reason I skipped the DLC on Wii U. Excitebike Arena was an awesome course that I felt fit due to it being an old Nintendo racer (a track from F1-Race or Famicom Hot Rally would work for similar reasons) but all the Splatoon, AC and Zelda characters were just silly additions, especially considering how the only Mario characters we got were reskins of other characters. The amiibo costumes in that game served their purpose, so making it an abrupt crossover was dumb by adding more outsider characters over Mario ones like E.Gadd or Fludd was just silly IMO.

I hope this is a one off thing for MTA, since not only does it have the issue of on cart DLC to deal with (though this certainly wasn't one of it) but it would lead to yet another Mario game being filled with more non-Mario characters rather than more interesting Mario characters.

What tennis series does Nintendo even have besides the Mario one? At least MK8 had a lot of racing crossovers like Big Blue and Excitebike, but if they wanted to bring a character that's from another Tennis game Nintendo made, the only one I could think of would be the old NES Tennis player... I guess Link would be a crossover character in that regard since he's from Mario's sister series, but still. Very oddball choice indeed.

Imo Excite Bike is the worst course in all of Mario Kart.

Atleast Mario Tennis had the decency of putting in all the major Mario characters and fan favorites. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe put in Inklings, Isabelle, Link, Villager, Pink Gold Peach, Baby Rosalina, Tanooki Mario, and a whole crazy mess more before putting in important characters like Diddy Kong and Birdo... DIDDY KONG and BIRDO.

Cool as long we still get Cappy

Nintendolife has this romour as debunked.

NintendoDeath didn't debunk anything, they just copied what they read elsewhere.

Well true, but it was debunked anyway. Not by NL sure, but they reported it at least.
