Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age seeing retail releases in Europe

Thanks to listings on Amazon, we now know that both Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age are going to see retail releases in Europe. You can see the cover art for each game above. Both games are priced at £44.99. You can check out the listings here.

On one hand it is great they are coming to the Switch.

On the other hand I am not paying $50-$60 for games that SquareEnix is selling on the SquareEnix NA store for $20 on the PS2...

£45? Square Enix are taking the proverbial P!$$. They're going to look real appetising on Amazon next to the PS4 versions that cost less than £17 for Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, costs £12. They're old remasters of already old games.

Both were $50 when they launched on PS4 and porting games cost money. The Xbox versions are also going to be $50. There is no foul play here. If you don't want to pay the full price wait six months and it'll be $20.

Does anyone know the actual quality of these physical releases?

What are the filesizes?
Do both X and X2 come on cart or is there a download code?

From what I understand, FFX2 is downloadable.
Not sure though, this needs to be confirmed.

So FFX/X2 is 30€ on the ps store and FFXIITZA is 50€.

So nothing really surprising there. In my opinion, they should both be no more than 30€, but placing them both at 40€ is actually better pricing than what I was afraid they would do.

My bad, I read that wrong. They're 50€, so FFXIITZA is the same price as the already too expensive ps4 version and FFX/X2 is completely overpriced. To think they could be reasonable for even just a second. Silly me.

Perfect price for me to wait for a sale.

I sent in this news a few days ago along with the news that X-2 will not be on the cart. Guess RMC missed out on that.

Actually, I'm fairly sure that neither game will be on cartridge. I said this when they were first announced back in or around September of last year, anything over 16GB has no chance of being on cartridge I'd say, unless they have an additional digital download but that defeats the purpose of a physical release. It's the prices of the games I take umbrage with. Selling a box with a digital code inside instead of a cartridge, I hate this kind of a release. Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster could fit on a 32GB cartridge but FF XII: The Zodiac Age is somewhere around 40GB on PS4. Given the lower specs of Switch, it should be smaller in size, perhaps if they made various languages as optional downloads, it too might be squeezed onto a 32GB cartridge. But it's irrelevant, as Square Enix will do no such thing.

Edit: It's strange, the product description of Amazon for both games say that they come with the game and manual. We need more clarity, surely they haven't got the complete games on cartridge, and if an additional digital download is required, then where's the usual white banner on top of the box art stating so?

Actually, the PC version of FFXII: The Zodiac Age is around 25GB, and that can definitely be compressed further. We've seen Switch games brought down in size with more than 50% thanks to some amazing compression work. I'd be surprised if Zodiac Age requires an additional download.

The question is.. are you willing to spend the time that it takes to get the most out of these games. If so then your still having an awful lot of game to play for these bucks. I you're just being curious however and only want to check it out within a lost hour, then indeed you'll be spending a lot of money here.
