Time travel is giong to be a major story element in Mortal Kombat 11, and things are giong to go all the way back to the very first Mortal Kombat. In an interview with the official Playstation blog, Mortal Kombat ko-kreator Ed Boon opens up about the time travel aspect.

“We’re taking all the events of MK1, MK2, and MK3, and folding them on top of the current timeline. We have time quakes, characters meeting their former selves…[for example], young Liu Kang meeting revenant Liu Kang. It’s so cool.”

Turns out Kronika, a new character in Mortal Kombat 11, is the main source of all this time traveling trouble. According to Boon, Kronika is the, “the boss of bosses. She’s been staging all the events since MK1 to MKX.”
