RUMOR - Sonic the Hedgehog movie might be releasing much later in some parts of the world

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is going to release here in the states on Nov. 8th, 2019. It's normal for movies to release slightly staggered around the world, and that seems to be the case for Europe. It seems that in various European countries, the release date is anywhere from later in November to late December.

Things get even crazier the more you look through the available information. According to IMDB, the film won't release in Japan until May 23rd, 2020, and New Zealand in July 2020! Now IMDB has certainly been a source of dubious information in the past, so we're not ready to call these release dates confirmed just yet. Let's hope we get some official information these release dates soon.

How about it releases so late that the human race is extinct and nobody has to watch this awful thing?

When I saw your comment, I literally laughed my a$$ off because it’s funny and true at the same time!

So nothing new - heck e.g. Ralph Wrecks the Internet is not even out for a month over here in the middle of Europe - we are used to getting anglo-saxon movies in cinema often after they are available on DVD or Stream in the US.

I don't think that there are many people who are legitimately excited for this anyway. Everyone just wants to see how bad it is.

I work at a movie theatre in the US, and a standee of this movie is in our hallway until release (Not this one, thank Arceus...) And when we're done with those standees, we take them out back and tear them down to be recycled.

When this one comes out, and that standee is next in line... I'm setting it on fire. It's the only way the evil can be vanquished!!

Do employees ever keep the standees instead of destroying them? I would think sometimes you could get some really cool decorations.

...not the Sonic standee, mind you. I mean better movies.

Can't speak for other theatres... but in our case, no. Posters/banners on the other hand we can keep. That's all I can say. ;)

You're too slow, I'm just going to pirate this.

Rumor: Some parts of the world are luckier than others.

I guess that gives other parts of the world plenty of time to hear if the movie is awful. If a movie is bad, I think you would want to release it in as many regions as possible simultaneously.
