SEGA explains why they created Team Sonic Racing instead of a new All-Stars title
Teamwork makes the dream work
Back when rumors of a new Sonic racing game first popped up, many thought it would be another installment in the All-Stars series. That wasn't the case though, as Sonic Team Racing was revealed, and it's a standalone racing game. Why did SEGA decide to ditch the All-Stars brand? Producer Takashi Iizuka explains in a GamesRadar interview.
“In the past, Sega used to always release different types of racing games, like Out Run and Daytona, so we have always been releasing a variety of different racing titles. For Team Sonic Racing it was a similar process where we wanted a new type of racing title made instead of just another All-Star game.”
