A few years back, there was a rumor about developer Criterion getting their hands on the F-Zero license. Supposedly they were going to release an F-Zero game for the Wii U, but as you know, that never panned out. So what exactly happened all those years ago? Turns out the whole store was fake.

Criterion's Alex Ward confirmed during a Game Informer interview that not only were they never working on F-Zero, Nintendo never even approached them with the opportunity. We should have known the story was fake right from the start, as it seems Nintendo doesn't have much love for F-Zero anymore!

Thanks to Lucius6 for the heads up!
