Detective Pikachu might have slipped in a reference to classic Charizard art

Coincidence, or sly reference?

In one of the most recent Detective Pikachu trailers, there's a moment where you see Charizard getting amped up for a battle. Reddit user Wowiethatscool noticed that during that moment, Charizard looks like he's making the same pose from his official artwork all the way back when Pokemon originally launched. You can see the comparison in the image above.

There's no doubt Detective Pikachu is going to be chock-full of references for fans, so it's not crazy to think that this is another one. I'm leaning towards this pose being referential, and I think it's pretty cool to see a nod to Ken Sugimori's artwork.
