GN Version 5.0

A long-running anime, a series of animated movies, but not a single live-action Pokemon movie until now. Detective Pikachu is a week away, and it's the first Hollywood adaptation to go the live-action + CG route. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Ryan Reynolds shares his surprise that there hasn't been a live-action adaptation yet.

"I knew about Pokemon, but I didn't know much about the nuance and detail, so I sort of just missed it. I checked it all out, and it was fantastic, amazing world. I can't believe there hasn't been a live-action movie before. I don't think technology actually caught up to this. Anytime you get to be part of a pioneering trip like this, it's pretty exciting."
