Detective Pikachu pulls in $5.7 million for Thursday night, set to hit $55 million for its opening weekend
Detective Pikachu starts off strong
Even with strong competition from Avengers: Endgame, Detective Pikachu is looking to prove a hit for Warner Bros.. The movie managed to pull in $5.7 million from Thursday night showings, which tops what How to Train Your Dragon 3 ($3M), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ($3.5M), and Lego Batman Movie ($2.2M) managed on their preview nights.
On top of that, Detective Pikachu appears set to hit $20 million for Friday, beating Avengers: Endgame, which is in-line for another $18 million today. When all is said and done, analysts are projecting a $50-$55 million opening weekend for Detective Pikachu.
