Taking on Dracula in the original Castlevania is a pretty intense moment, and it definitely puts your skills to the test. If you're good enough to take him down, the game rewards you with a single point. Why on earth do you only get one point for your troubles? We finally have the answer, thanks to a dev who worked alongside Hitoshi Akamatsu, the creator/director of Castlevania.

The reason you only get one point for defeating Dracula in Castlevania was due to a bug: thanks to the very short development period, Akamatsu didn’t understand all the particularities of the Famicom CPU, and he set the wrong bit. It was supposed to be 10,000 points. (laughs)
