Fans working on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron HD remake

Good...good...

Star Wars: Rogue Squadron was impressive for the N64, but the visuals don't really hold up today. That's why a group of fans have taken on the task of an HD remake. You can see some of their progress above, which certainly looks leagues beyond the original. If only we could get an actual HD remake of this for Switch!

Those were games of a more civilized age.

I usually don't like these fan remakes using Unreal Engine, but this one looks nice. I wish we could get a new set of Rogue Squadron-ish games set in the new Trilogy universe. But alas, it would be full of DLC and microtransactions.

And... you know... set in the crappy new trilogy of the crappy new canon... honestly, what do you even need a Rogue Squadron for when you can just fly a common droid fighter at light speed into a fleet and wipe the whole thing out in one blow?

Ignoring your crummy opinions about the new trilogy, a droid starfighter crashing into a capital ship would result in the droid fighter being decimated and minimal damage to the capital ship (if any damage at all). The experimental shields are the only reason why the Raddus was able to use the hyper drive as an offensive weapon.

Experimental shields? The movie featured a lot of ass-pulled plot twists, but I don't recall that one.

Not everything needs to be explained in the films, buddy. Look it up. But even if it was, folks like yourself would hate that it was written in the story to begin with.

The GameCube Rogue Squadrons are still visually impressive by today's standards.

Looks awesome... it's gonna die an early death no doubt... and not just because Disney seems set on destroying the classic Star Wars canon... and Star Wars in general...
