Realistic Pokemon artist shares some concept art he worked on for Detective Pikachu, including a push for Danny DeVito

What detective we could have had

RJ Palmer is the artist who worked on the 'realistic Pokemon' art series that landed him a job on the Detective Pikachu movie. Today Mr. Palmer has shared some concept art that he worked on for the film, including a look at what Danny DeVito might have looked like in the role of Detective Pikachu. I guess there really was a point in time when at least some people involved really wanted Mr. DeVito in the role!

Eh... it's interesting.

I understand that DeVito doesn't know much about Pokemon and wasn't interested in the project, but I think it would have been neat if there were at least audition tapes of him doing the voice. Ryan Reynolds did a great job, but DeVito's sarcastic gravely voice would have made some of the jokes in the script land a little better.
