Smash Bros. Ultimate mod adds in Shaggy

Shaggy may not be making his way to Mortal Kombat 11, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to pop up in other fighting titles. Case in point, the fan mod that added Shaggy to the Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. Once again, this looks like a top-notch mod! Now all Shaggy needs is a Scooby-Doo final smash.

I must have missed something, because I have no idea why people seem to be obsessed with Shaggy lately. He been around since like the 70s, so what's with the sudden obsession?

It's just a joke. Shaggy has a power level and blah blah blah. I don't know where it started. Maybe when someone modded him into xenoverse 1 or something. It was probably pushed by people who watch skooks and other scooby doo YTPs.

As someone who followed the trajectory VERY loosely, it seems like:

Dragon Ball Super (Goku reaching Ultra Instinct) > A clip from a straight-to-DVD of Shaggy being uncharacteristically tough, replacing the scene with Ultra Instinct effects and music> "Shaggy can beat Jiren and Goku" jokes > *silence* > A quick clip of Shaggy being buff from one of the live-action films > Reddit/Twitter starting the idea over how Shaggy has the power of a god > The guy who played live-action Shaggy endorsing the meme > Meme lords trying to get Shaggy into MK11 because Warner Bros. > ??? > This

tl;dr - Memes are dumb and the internet was a mistake.

I honestly have always found Fred to be the more memeworthy character myself and I'm totally bewildered that nobody has modded him into anything. The fact that he's just there and doesn't do much in the recent shows makes him a perfect fit. Heck, I don't even think he did much in the original shows to begin with and that's probably why it was reduced to only Shaggy, Scooby and Daphne at one point.

As for Shaggy though, I think his Zoinks and the fact that he always seems to survive everything thrown at him has gotten him a bit of meme status for being near invincible or more powerful than meets the eye

What I don't get is why you always see mods where a character's mesh is replaced, but the sounds are left as-is. You'd think replacing the sounds would be the easiest part. Is it because of how the audio is compressed or something?

why all the negatives?

Same reason for all the Bowsette hate. People hate seeing other people having fun.
