GN Version 5.0

Capcom has surprise-announced a mobile-to-Switch port in Captive Palm, set to launch in Japan on Aug. 30th, 2019. Capcom is going all-out on this game, as they've announced a regular retail edition, a ¥6,468 yen Deluxe Edition, ¥9,709 Collector’s Edition, and even more expensive options on their e-Capcom site. That's not to mention the download version for ¥3,989, with two additional content packs at ¥1,500 each or ¥5,989.

If you haven't already guessed, Captive Palm is a romance title. The game has you on the hunt for clues to a crime, and you get them by spying on a prisoner with amnesia.

Interact with Haruto, a mysterious prisoner who has been involved in some sort of crime, and has been sent to prison on a remote island across the ocean. Your job is to fight through Haruto's amnesia and help him recover his memories of the crime. You can only interact with Haruto via a glass divider in prison, and you'll eventually place your hand on the screen to "connect" with Haruto.

Other portions of the game having you moving around the island, questioning locals, finding clues, and picking up items to give to Haruto. Haruto will also send text messages and leave voicemails.

Check out the official Japanese site for the game here. It features more screens, as well as some pics of various preorder bonuses for retailers.

We can also look forward to a NicoNico live-stream from Capcom on June 1st, 2019 which is sure to share more info.

Thanks to Kolma for the heads up!
