Nintendo moving some Switch production out of China to avoid threat of tariffs

It's all about the money

There are plenty of companies who deal with production in China, and Nintendo is one of them. If you've been keeping up with the news, you know that there's a chance some tariffs could be coming for Chinese-made products coming to the states. In order to avoid the issue, Nintendo has moved some of their hardware production into Southeast Asia. Looks like Nintendo would rather be safe than sorry, and avoid as much fallout from tariffs as possible.

Thanks to Sligeach_eire for the heads up!

It's a smart decision. Although, trying to predict what the American "president" is gonna do is a laughable endeavor. His decisions are not based on reason. I feel sorry for the country.

What's missing here because you can't read the full article unless you're subscribed to Wall Street Journal is that...

WSJ: Nintendo Switch upgrade and a cheaper Switch console are coming soon

https://bgr.com/2019/06/12/nintendo-switch-2019-release-date-new-console-models-to-launch-soon-5715500/

The news comes from The Wall Street Journal, which learned from unnamed sources in the supply chain that production in Southeast Asia has started for the Switch, “including the current type and the two new models.” That’s an indication that Nintendo will introduce them soon, although no timeframe was given in the report.

Eh "Made in Japan" like the old days, only more pricey haha
