Pokemon Sword & Shield to feature at least 71 new Pokemon

While we don't have an exact number, we now know that Pokemon Sword & Shield are going to include at least 71 new Pokemon. This information comes from a Famitsu interview with Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda, who stated that with the release of Pokemon Sword and Shield, the Pokemon franchise will have over 1,000 Pokemon. This number includes all alternate forms that exist, which is how fans have arrived at the figure of 71. Now there could certainly be more, but at the very least, we know 71 new Pokemon are on the way.
