Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night dev team already working on Switch updates to improve performance

No rest for the weary

Those who have been playing Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Switch have noticed some issues along the way. Complaints have rolled in about framerate in certain areas, game crashes, input lag, and more. The official Kickstarter for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has already issued a statement on the matter, and they say that fixes are on the way.

We have been listening to the feedback regarding Switch performance. Our goal is for everyone, regardless of platform, to be able to enjoy the game and have it run smoothly. We want to live up to your, and our, expectations.

Throughout the QA process we have been addressing performance issues in the game. Update 1.01 was published to Switch prior to launch to add content and improve performance. It did not accomplish as much as we had hoped and we need to do more.

To address the concerns brought up by the community we are immediately shifting resources to improve performance and stability for the Switch. You can expect a number of small updates that will improve different areas of the game rather than waiting longer for one big update. We will have more details as we dive into the work.

We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks to EyezofNight for the heads up!

I picked up the game at GameStop today along with Super Neptunia and Judgment so it looks like I'll be playing those first for sure (guess we've got a Days Gone-like situation where it's like "it's good, but it really needs some patches first").

Once I hear they've put out a performance patch I'll pop the cart into the Switch, get the patch (hope it won't be too huge, I know patching UE4 games can be weird, as the aforementioned Days Gone has taught me), and finally enjoy it.

My copy of the game got lost in the mail. Maybe that's a good thing for now?

Why did they shipped the game like this? Delaying a game is that bad for companies?

Best guess: since this is a Kickstarter game they probably felt they HAD to get the Switch version out as close to the other versions as possible because otherwise some KS backers would begin asking for refunds because they can't stand having to wait so long for their version specifically.

That's good, at least they're working on it. I'll wait until they patch it before I buy it.
