Study shows that 24% of 3DS owners in the states also have a Switch
Nintendo wants to change that
Want to know why Nintendo is creating the Switch Lite? Here's a solid bit of evidence for you. An EEDAR PlayerPulse report states that just 24% of active game players in the U.S. who own a 3DS also own a Switch. Are some of those people shying away from the Switch due to its price and lack of focus on portability? There's certainly some of the market that falls into that grouping, and you can bet Nintendo is trying to woo them with Switch Lite.
