Controversial voice actor Chris Niosi playing the role of Byleth in Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Fans are not happy

Thanks to the inclusion of Fire Emblem: Three Houses characters in Fire Emblem Heroes, we now know who provides voices for some of those roles. Taking on the role of Byleth is Chris Niosi, which has some fans quite enraged.

According to Niosi's own words, he has abused friends, colleagues, and significant others. After repeated accusations and public discussions, Niosi took to his personal tumblr to confirm the information, and come clean with all that he's put people through. We've included a snippet from his tumblr post below.

My name is Christopher Niosi; also known as Kirbopher. I am 30 years old and for about half of my lifetime, I have horribly mistreated and abused friends, colleagues and even my significant others. It is time that I addressed each and every one of those people and responded to their feelings with individual apologies for what I’ve done to hurt them. This will be a masterpost containing all of the appropriate posts in one location, so that the people they have been written for, along with anyone else who wishes to read them, can easily access the information.

You can read Niosi's full post here, which reveals quite a laundry list of unbecoming events. Obviously, fans who have read about all this, or knew about the matters beforehand, are really unhappy to see Niosi taking on the role. Nintendo is yet to respond to the matter, but we have reached out for comment.

Guy seems to be deeply flawed (not unlike many people) but it seems he's sincerely trying to make amends. I skimmed over the Tumblr but just putting all your failures as a human being out there on the internet is, I'm sure, agonizing. It seems like he's making the right steps. People should probably lay off on him now that he's shown genuine repentance.

Wow, Kirbopher hitting the big time. I remember his Fireball20xl days.

Wow, that resurfaced a long forgotten memory.

Oof, what a massive creep.

Tbh. I knew about the situation for days - from the exes side and people who know Kirb's behaviour for years - I didn't want to sent that info to Kevin (since GN is not that kin of site) - but now that the post is here - I reconsider.

I'm not a fan of many of the Three Houses casting choices that I am aware of, but so long as the dialogue and characters themselves are uncompromised, unlike in Fire Emblem Fates, I don't care too much about who voices them. I'm not a big fan of his either but I'll read his post and re-assess my position. I hope he's genuinely apologetic for what he's done. If the people he's apologizing to forgive him, who am I to say he's being insincere?

Setting Fire Emblem aside, I feel like a lot of people who were popular online ten or fifteen years ago are now being treated like voice actors because they made or participated in goofy flash animations when they seldom have the talent to carry a large role let alone an entire game. For every 2B there are twenty parts that make you cringe because former internet personalities think they can act. I hope Chris Niosi is in the former category if he's going to voice a protagonist in a 60-hour role-playing game. I think this is something that should stop, but I'm willing to give him a shot.

Ignoring all of the stuff about who he is as a person, Kirbopher is a good voice actor. He's not amazing or anything but he is good. He has been doing actual voice acting for some time now. He played one of the main characters in Tales of Zestiria back in 2015 (Dezel I think was his name?) And he voiced the apothecary character in Octopath Traveler (whose name I can't remember).

Edit: he played Therion the Theif in Octopath, and was admittedly pretty good.

At least he admits he did wrong, and not like Vic Mignognia who was a creep for decades and is still acting like a victim

Wait what's happening with Vic?
All I remember glancing over was a headline about him having some kind of fallout with Monica Rial?

I started out believing the allegations against Vic, but I don't anymore. The longer this case goes on, the more it sounds like his accusers grasping at straws and that he didn't actually do anything wrong. I'm genuinely disappointed in Monica and the others at Funi for turning on him just like that. Meanwhile, Jamie Marchi is just up to no good as usual.

Niosi is in plenty of dubbed content. I’m pretty sure he plays Alfain in Octopath

He actually played Therion in Octopath Traveler

he also voiced a role in a few episodes of pokemon

While I respect the right of people to express the disdain, I'm not in favor of mob mentalities and harassment to people.

With that said, I suppose I don't care enough to have that soured a VA experience. Unlike the one from

Spoiler

I honestly didn't know there was a problem with Chris. I've known him since he was a poster on a DBZ board, before I even saw any animation/acting work of his. This is literally how I've found out any of this.

A good society would separate artist from work, even if the artist did the most horrible thing ever unless of course the work is somehow connected. And I am more furious at people who try to ruin a person's legal career when they are very aware of the person actually putting GOOD effort of needed change.

I am not actually sure if his last mistake was done 15 years ago, if there was a very recent one, especially after he "apologized" before that, then I hope he gets legal therapy.
