YouTube's 3DS app is shutting down on Sept. 3rd, 2019

End of an era...

Are you still watching YouTube on your 3DS? If so, it's time to find another device to watch on. Nintendo has confirmed that the app will no longer be available to download, nor will it function after Sept. 3rd, 2019. Users have complained of issues with the app for quite some time, so perhaps it's not such a bad thing to see it ride off into the sunset.

Thanks to Andreslop24 for the heads up!

I rarely watched anything on my 3DS from Youtube. I always preferred my phone or PC for that. Still a shame to see this go away as well. Gonna sound a bit nostalgic, but I remember getting my 3DS on launch like it was yesterday. Crazy how it's done with for the most part now.

I don't use it, but from what I've heard it hasn't worked for several months anyway. You need a New 3DS/2DS and to use the web browser to watch YouTube, so they are just wasting time to keep it up there until September 3.

I remember watching let's plays of a few games on that that resulted in me picking them up. Good memories!

It stopped working for me almost a year ago anyway. Sad. Would have loved to watch YT on my 3DS all this time.

This is just the beginning.. within a few years our many millions of 3DS system are handicapped with all kinds of online infrastructure cut offs.. and just after that the Switch will probably suffer the same fate. I wonder how long our SSM1 levels will be out there we invested many millions of hours of our lifetimes in. Many many unique user creations on all kinds of creation platforms have already been taken down within just a few years, just to start up new creation platforms that can only be used on the new system. Better not put too much time in your creations when you're using these temporary online systems.

What in life is not temporary?

The one that knows the answer to this?

this will not make a difference to me because i dont use Youtube in my New 3DS XL only in my phone and my notebook, but this is still sad for the people who use Youtube in they 3DS.
