GoNintendo Video - Reaction to the WNBA in NBA 2K20 is downright disgusting

2K announced the inclusion of the WNBA in NBA 2K20 last week, and the reaction ever since has been vile and misogynistic. Of course not everyone has been acting this way, but there unfortunately seems to be a loud and proud group of haters out there.

Yeah, I agree. Far too much hate from certain hategroups have been messing with the gaming landscape for the past couple years now, and stuff like this just further proves why said hategroups are terrible. Of all the thing about NBA2K to get worked up about, this isn't one of them (I'd say the microtransactions aimed towards kids are the actual issue) and it's annoying to see the usual suspects on the internet blow their lids off over... A new game mode in a game notorious for being samey each year.

Keep up the good work RMC, I've stuck around for six years now and have seen zero desire to even let you down or leave since this site is great and your hard work is tremendous and admirable. That and your Nintendoforce stuff too. I know that whenever people post stuff like this toxic people will pounce on it and probably downvote it to death... But you're still doing the right thing by being courteous, which is more than I can say for other bearded adult men who make youtube videos that are on the opposite end of the spectrum and are livid about this.

WTF, how immature can you be, sheesh, some people. Great vid RMC.

Thank you for the kind words, my friend. They mean a ton right now.

My only gripe with WNBA being in NBA 2K20 is that whereas the file size was previously 36GB or so, now it will probably be 50GB to account for all the new player assets. That’s a big download!

Download size, a topic we can ALL agree on!

I hope the WNBA being included in the NBA game will lead to their own game. I have no problem with them being combined, but they deserve their own game, their own cover athlete, etc. They should be just as big and recognized as the men. I get the thinking of trying to get more exposure for the WNBA, by way of the NBA, so hopefully that helps achieve that goal. To those complaining, they’d lose to every single one of these women in a game of 1 on 1. Besides, it’s more content in your game, what’s the downside to that? 🤨

Really, it’s sad that it’s taken this long for women to get representation in terms of a basketball game. A true watershed moment, I think, and it probably means a great deal to every girl or woman who picks up a basketball or has interest in the sport.

RMC, I would love to hear you on the DLC podcast. I’m going to tell them, as well. Smile

I'm not familiar with them. I'll have to check them out!

People complain about how small are the changes between each interaction of the yearly sports franchise and when they finally do something that adds a lot of new stuff to the game, they complain because they dared to spend development time putting the women league? The internet can be such a sad place to be...

Thank you, RMC. I feel like this world still ain't a lost cause as long as people like you exist. Smile

Why would people be angry about this?
There are so many issues with EA's sports titles, excessive microtransactions aimed at kids, purposeful grind to promote said microtransactions, yearly releases with little changed, lootboxes having 0.01% chance of actually getting something worth using, etc etc etc.

Adding the women's league is the last thing anyone in a right state of mind should ever be upset about.

Because it's the internet and a lot of stupid people have access to it.

Because it's the internet and a lot of stupid people have access to it.

There has been a rise in anti-feminism in some circles of the Internet, video games being one of them. They consist mainly of horny teenage boys, young men, and manchildren angry, likely also envious, about the advancements women have made, especially in the last couple of decades. They essentially care only about boinking women and hate when they see or hear about women having other concerns. In the case of something like this, they don't want WNBA players in the game because playing the game will constantly remind them that women are independent too and don't just exist to be intercourse-related rewards.

I truly admire your passion and dedication, RMC. You're like an over grown Teddy bear Smile

But to be realistic, this is the internet. Many a people can "hide" behind a name and talk shit on the net. It's odd how some people feel comfortable with it also. Trust me when I say that 99% of these people would never EVER dare to say something like any of this in "real life". So they are basically mostly a bunch of cowards. I know it's not easy for everyone, but just ignore the trolls already. Don't get offended, don't give them the attention they are after and just ignore them. When you ignore trolls, they give up real soon. Again, I know that ain't easy for everyone, but it should be taught by now IMO.

There is also a thing called dark humour! I am a master at it, but I know that it's a time and a place to unleash that beast.I would have been banned from here for one of my calmer jokes. The thing is, people don't know your story and a bad joke can rip up a scar. With my closest friends I joke so bad people can be like "OK, dude! Now taht was just sick!" ;) But they get the joke, and I know.

I never get offended (I can give an example, but that would be PM material), and would love to teach that talent someday.

I am not a fan of baseball, so I'll admit I haven't heard much about WNBA, but I must say I am surprised they weren't already in there. FIFA games (no, not a football/soccer fan either) added female teams, not?

OK. I'm gonna stop my big "rant" here and just say I am very happy they put the girls in too. They are for sure just as dedicated as the boys and deserve to be there.

Keep up the great work Raw Meat Teddy Bear. =)
