2K remains committed to NBA 2K series on Switch, says you can't match the platform's flexibility, also discusses microtransactions

The anti-EA

NBA 2K20 is coming out on the Switch in a matter of weeks, marking the third installment of the franchise to come to Nintendo fans. It's clear 2K feels the series makes sense on the Switch, and in an interview with USGamer, senior producer Rick Boenisch explained why.

"I think when the demand is there, you get to see the audience who enjoys it, you take advantage of it. Selfishly for me, I feel like I shouldn't be playing my game when I'm away from work. But even on the plane down here, I put my Switch in my bag with me, and it's awesome to get the chance to just focus in on the gameplay. The flexibility can't be matched with that console."

In the same interview, Boenisch discusses the game's approach with microtransactions. 2K has heard the complaints in recent years, and they're doing their best to find a balance with this installment.

"For us it's really important that our customers feel perceived value in the game. We've designed the game such that everything like that is supplemental. It's there, it's optional if you want, but everything has to feel natural. It can't be like a mobile game where you eventually hit a paywall. We never hit that in NBA 2K, and I think that's a really important point to drive home."

These guys are the best

Thank you for allowing me to play this great game anywhere

This actually sounds promising. I've missed having a good basketball game to play. I will keep an eye on the monetization of the next one and see how I feel about it.

Now just bring back NHL 2K! If EA can’t be arsed doing NHL Switch then 2K should (would probably be a much better effort than anything EA would do anyway).

I wouldn't call them the anti-EA considering they did just publish Mafia III... but yes at least they still support Switch , and understand why as a publisher they should
