Square-Enix shares new gameplay details on Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, internet connection required

Square-Enix has shared a new round of info on the upcoming Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent mobile game. Check out a rundown of the new details below.

- takes place on the same continent of Orsterra, a few years before Octopath Traveler
- all 8 regions from the Switch game appear, a
- some of the towns are returning
- some towns have areas only accessible in this game
- completely original story, and you don’t need to have played the Switch game to enjoy
- being developed as a single-player RPG
- no competitive elements against other players, and no plans to add such things
- the team will do their "utmost to avoid adding playable content that is limited-time only"
- content that you can slowly enjoy like a traveler in the world of Octopath Traveler might be added later
- players can enjoy this game at their own pace
- explore and battle, obtain materials, and get the weapons by making them at the blacksmith
- you can also obtain them via chests and Path Actions
- the protagonist’s job class is predetermined
- there are eight weapons you can use: Swords, Daggers, Axes, Polearms, Bows, Fans, Books, and Staves
- internet connection is required
- the game is made so that you can progress onwards in the game until important points, which is when connection is checked
