While there has been a big push to get eSports as part of the Olympics, there's still some work to be done. That said, things are inching ever closer, especially with the announcement of the Intel World Open. This event, which comes from a collab between the International Olympic Committee and Intel, will take place as a lead-in to the Olympics. The event runs from July 22nd to 24th, 2020, with the actual Olympics kicking off the 24th.

Two games will be a part of the Intel World Open, with one of them being Rocket League. The competition in Rocket League will be pulling from a $250,000 prize pool, meaning there's some serious cash up for grabs. Intel’s director of business development Mark Subotnick says Rocket League was chosen due to the ease with which casual spectators can keep up with the the game.
