A lovely choice indeed

GN Version 5.0

The Switch Lite has a couple weeks under its belt now, and it seems to be selling quite well the world over. We have hardware data from a couple spots around the globe, but Nintendo is yet to share full data. While we wait for any official numbers, the gang over at Console Deals have done their own detective work to see which color is most popular. You can find their report below.

Having analysed thousands of pieces of information collated via Console Deals, we've come back with the ranking of the popularity of the Nintendo Switch Lite's four available designs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the turquoise model has been the biggest seller, with more than 40% opting for this colour, with grey in second at just under 30%.

Interestingly, the Zacian and Zamazenta special edition that is tied to the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield games is a narrow third. This is despite not coming bundled with either of the new Pokemon games, and not being released until November 8th, a month and a half later than the other colours options for the Switch Lite. The yellow version brings up the rear, with only 8% of the Switch Lite market share, less than half of the Zacian and Zamazenta special edition.

As the release date of the Pokemon special edition nears and more retailers begin to list bundled options for it, it could well exceed the turquoise console as the most popular choice.

Compared to the classic Switch, where the neon blue and red Joy-Con option has vastly outsold the grey version, this trend offers plenty of food for thought for Nintendo. The classic Switch has had some special editions launched, but these typically have had very limited stock runs, restricting their ability to compete with the main colours for popularity. Given the success of the Zacian and Zamazenta edition, we may see a greater number of special editions and more adventurous colours in the future.
