Nintendo has been fighting piracy for years upon years now, doing all they can to stop people from illegally downloading/playing their games. Just recently, Nintendo filed lawsuit against a number of piracy websites in order to stop them from spreading ROMs, and dissuade others from starting such operations. Now Nintendo is taking another approach to weeding out these offenders.

Nintendo is now issuing takedown notices to Google for sites they say violate the DMCA’s anti-circumvention provision. Nintendo includes a blurb with their takedown notice explaining why they feel they're in the right.

“Nintendo’s technological protection measures (‘TPMs’) ensure that only official copies of its game software can be played on Nintendo’s video game systems. The circumvention devices, products or components offered at the reported links bypass Nintendo’s TPMs so that users can play unauthorized copies of Nintendo’s game files that are offered unlawfully via the Internet.”

So far, Google has been doing as Nintendo requests by removing links to the offending sites. As for the sites that have been removed from Google's search offerings, it doesn't seem there's any easy way for them to turn things around.

Thanks to MysteryMan for the heads up!
