Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the best selling console game of the decade in Japan
A SMASHing achievement
As of this week, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold a total of 3,383,582 physical copies in Japan. This is undoubtedly an incredible achievement for Nintendo, as it makes SSBU the best selling console game in over 10 years across all platforms. Being a title that is practically a celebration of gaming as a whole, its only fitting for it to be one of the best selling games. As of right now, Smash's only competition is Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, who has been an absolute sales beast these past few weeks. Since their release in November, they have already sold a total of 2,456,459 copies.
