GN Version 5.0

All the way back in 2018, Pokemon fans were trying to decipher if a set of artwork featuring Pokemon was a legit leak, or the work of a faker. Among the collection of art was a blue platypus-like creature that really seemed to resonate with fans.

That Pokemon, seen above, was created by Leopoldo Spagna. He was hoping to fool the internet with his fake Pokemon creations, and he did indeed fool many. Soon enough the secret was revealed, and Spagna apologized for how far-reaching his fake Pokemon went.

You'd think that might be the end of the story, but it's not. Fast-forward to the Kickstarter for Temtem, a game that shares a lot in common with Pokemon. That Kickstarter had a $6,000 tier that would let the backer create their own creator for the game. Twitch streamer PokeNinja saw that offer and jumped in on it. He worked out a deal with Spagna to use the blue platypus creation as his submission.

As you can see via the image all the way at the top of this post, that blue platypus did indeed make it into Temtem. What started out life as a fake Pokemon has now become an official creature for a Pokemon-style adventure. It's not a real Pokemon, but it certainly is quite close now!
