The Wonderful 101 didn't have much luck finding success when it first launched. The game was hard to explain, and the Wii U just couldn't find customers. The game's failure at retail certainly upset fans of Platinum and the game itself, and in an interview with NintendoEverything, Platinum's Hideki Kamiya says the lack of success hit them hard too.

"I mean, it was really disappointing for us, you know? We worked so hard to make this high quality game and we were hoping a lot of gamers would play it, but that didn’t really pan out. So as a result of our negotiations, the kindness of Nintendo has made both the ports and this campaign possible.”

The important thing is that things worked out in the end. With a renewed push via Kickstarter, The Wonderful 101: Remastered is already a huge success. Now the game will find more of an audience than it ever did. It seems the world just wasn't ready back in the Wii U days, but they are now!
