Sonic the Hedgehog director says the future is looking "VERY bright"

Sonic 2?

Jeff Fowler, director of Sonic the Hedgehog, seems to be quite happy with how the movie is doing. Yesterday we learned that it's on-track outpace the opening of Detective Pikachu, the current video game-to-movie record holder. Late on the opening day of the film, Fowler took to Twitter to share the following comment.

What... a... DAY!!! No words can describe the appreciation I'm feeling right now. You've taken this little blue hedgehog to EPIC heights. We never could have done it without the FANS... THANK YOU for your LOVE and SUPPORT. The future is VERY bright for the BLUE BLUR

There have been many questions about a potential sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog. While nothing is concrete yet, it does seem this strong opening weekend could pave the way easily.

I haven't been interested in seeing the movie, but I do like the idea of the movie seeing success after making changes to do right with the fans. So congrats to the Sonic movie team, and maybe I'll give it a watch when it hits streaming services.

What I find sad is that the animation studio closed down after finishing this course correction. Although I suppose its good that at least the animators would have a successful movie in their curriculum.

I agree.

There are SERIOUS problems with the way CG and effects studios are dealt with and payed in Hollywood, and their attempts to draw attention to the situation are always cut off or swept under the rug when they try to affect change.

Sonic the hedgehog: the movie: the game confirmed.
