The Castlevania series on Netflix has garnered a ton of praise from fans of the franchise and TV critics as well. It's not often to see fans of an adaptation pleased along with critics as well. Making it even more mind-boggling, the person who's behind the writing for the series hasn't even played the games.

In an interview with i09, Netflix series writer Warren Ellis talks about including content from the games, such as characters, settings, and more. While he may have a wealth of content to pick from, he's pulling tidbits in a different way than fans would. Turns out he's never played an entry in the franchise!

“There were certain pieces, I did cherry-pick from different bits of the games— so, if you’re extremely well-versed in Castlevania lore then you will see things you recognize being draw in from places in the canon. If, like me, you’ve never played the games, it won’t make a blind bit of difference to your enjoyment of the thing...I’m just making it up as I go along. It’s fine!”
