GN Version 5.0

You never know where developers get all of their inspiration from, especially in the earlier days of gaming. Gaming's younger years were a bit like the Wild West, as in teams played by their own rules and went about things that would get them in trouble nowadays. Case in point, the numerous real-life items that inspired, or were flat-out ripped off for DOOM.

The video above shows off all the real-world items that were used in unique ways in DOOM. Some items were directly copied and dropped into the game, while others had segments replicated, twisted, and tilted in order to make up bigger set pieces. There's some really interest finds in the video that make it well worth a watch.
