Taking a closer look at the Japanese hardware sales data for this week, something strange is happening. Due to continued stock shortages of the regular Switch model in Japan from the coronavirus, Japanese gamers are resulting in purchasing a Switch Lite instead. While this has been happening for quite a few weeks now, this time is particularly interesting because of just how drastic the differences are. For the first time in a very long while, the PlayStation 4 actually outsold the Nintendo Switch. However, the Switch Lite sold 10 times as many units as the regular Switch, meaning Nintendo still reigns supreme overall. Check out the exact Japanese sales numbers for this week (March 2nd, 2020) below.

Nintendo Switch - 4,424 units
Nintendo Switch Lite - 46,161 units
PlayStation 4 - 9,584
PlayStation 4 Pro - 4,187
